| Room 23
Kindergarten News: Once a week- usually on Fridays, a classroom newsletter will be sent home with important information about our room and the school. The weekly Share and Tell theme will be given in the weekly newsletter. Be sure to watch for it! Leap into Learning |
Share and
Tell: Each week, we will have Share and Tell in Room 23 beginning about the third week of school. Share and Tell will usually be on Wednesdays unless notified differently. On the Share and Tell day, each child is asked to bring one object, drawing or magazine cut out that fits the Share and Tell theme of the week. The Share and Tell theme will be given in the weekly newsletter, sent home on Fridays. Please Note: Due to the School
District weapons policy, children are NOT allowed to bring any kind of
weapon to school for Share and Tell--- not even toy weapons such as
squirt guns or plastic knives. |

| Snack
and... We will have an afternoon Snack and Milk break daily. Your child may bring a healthy snack from home to eat at this time. Please keep in mind an appropriate portion size for your child's snack. This should be something your child can finish eating in 5 to 10 min. The School District's Health Policy encourages families to send healthy foods for snack time such as: granola bars, graham crackers, cheese sandwich crackers, pretzels, dry low-sugar breakfast cereal, yogurt or low fat pudding and mozzarella cheese sticks. Crackers sent at the beginning of the school year will be used as an "emergency" snack supply for times children forget to bring snack. |
Milk Break: Children wishing to purchase milk for the afternoon snack time are welcome to do so. $5.00 will pay for 20 snack milks. The Lunch Accountant keeps track of the money available in the account. A note will be sent home when this account is running low. Free or reduced lunch/breakfast DOES NOT apply to the snack milk. Snack milk must be purchased by the family. Your child is always welcome to choose to drink water, if not interested in drinking milk during snack time. Please send a note to school if you DO NOT wish your child to take part in the snack milk program.

| Birthday Celebrations: Families are welcome to send a commercially prepared birthday treat for the class to share on their child's birthday. Items from the Healthy Snack list work better for birthday treats than cupcakes or cake. We have found some brands of cupcakes to be extremely messy because of the amount of frosting on them. The class will sing Happy Birthday to the birthday child and recite a special birthday poem. The Birthday child will receive a Birthday crown to wear. Please send a note or call to confirm the number of students in the class a few days before you will send birthday treats to school. |
Bag
Books: Beginning in October, the children will have the chance to check out a book from the classroom library 2 times a week. This is in addition to the school library book checked out during our Friday Library Special. The Bag Books are from my personal collection of children's books. The Bag Book will be sent home in a plastic envelope with a recording sheet. Please take a few moments to read and enjoy the book with your child. Sign the recording sheet. Send the book and recording sheet in the plastic bag back to school the next school day. Later in the year, the Bag Book will include books your child may be able to read to you! |

| Bus Tags: Please do not remove the bus/dismissal information tag school has attached to your child's backpack, especially if your child rides the school bus. This gives the bus driver important information to help insure your child is delivered to the correct bus stop. Base Bus students also have a punched out shaped attached to their Bus Tags. This must be left on the backpacks. |
| About School
Supplies: To take advantage of Fall sales, I tried to make my school supply list complete enough to last the whole school year. However, sometimes a few items need to be replenished. If your child runs out of glue, uses up all the erasers on the pencils, etc., a note will be sent home asking you to send replacements for the items. |
