Thank you for having an interest in this Learning Lab. The class is directed by the belief that all children can learn and deserve the best education possible. The students in this room are held responsible for their learning as well as their behaviors.

The direction of the children's education is determined by the goals and objectives created by the educational TEAM that consists of the parents, principal, classroom teacher, special education teacher as well as any other staff that is actively involved with the student. The IEP is reviewed annually and rewritten to address the current needs of the student. Parents will receive a copy of the goal pages with each objective addressed and the progress noted. I also attach a personal letter to the packet that enables you to track what we worked on during the quarter, as well as great gains or concerns.

The homework policy for this learning lab is such that overall there is none assigned. We work hard to build upon the skills that the child has and then expand on their knowledge with constant and consistent support. Therefore homework that is sent home is either due to the student refusing to do any work or addresses a skill that the child can do fairly independently. You may request homework from me at any time. Please feel free to e-mail me your request. It is reccommened that the student read for 30 minutes nightly.

The amount of time the student receives as well as the type of service is determined at the annual review meeting. The pullout services that children receive will occur during the time their classroom is engaging in this content. For example if the classroom does math from 9:15 to 10:15 then that is the time the student requiring this assistance will come to the learning lab. Please note that your child will not be removed from any "special" activity that their class is doing. If your child's services is inclusion then this service will also occur in the same manner as pullout.
