Quarterly Goals for Kindergarten Report Card

Each quarter progress reports are sent home for you to see your child's progress.  The goals for each quarter are listed below based on the following key
1. Student is performing above grade level expectations
2. Student has met the grade level expectations
3. Student has not yet met grade level expectations

Each quarter the expectation for each goal gets higher as new material is learned
1st Quarter

LANGUAGE ARTS

Classifies things that  are Similar/Different
1.  Sorts objects into 3-4 categories and can tell how and why they sorted the way they did.
2.  Sorts objects into 2-3 categories and can give some detail as to why they sorted the way they did.
3.  Cannot sort objects or explain why certain objects go together.

Hears Differences in Beginning Sounds
1. When 2 words are spoken to them, student can easily tell with 100%  accuracy if  the 2 words begin with the same sound.
2.  When 2 words are spoken to them, student can tell with 80% accuracy if  the 2 words begin with same sound.
3.  When 2 words are spoken to them, student can tell with less than 80% accuracy if  the 2 words begin the the same sound.

Retells A Story in sequence :
1.  Retells a story read to them with correct sequence while adding important  details such as when, where, what, why, etc.  Has the essence of the story.
2.  Retells main parts of story in sequence minus some details - has basic understanding of story.
3.  Cannot retell story in sequence - doesn’t remember important details.

Identifies uppercase letters out of sequence 
1.  Knows 100% of uppercase letters.
2.  Knows 80% of  uppercase letters introduced.  
3.  Knows less than 80% of uppercase letters introduced.

Identifies lowercase letters out of sequence
1.  Knows 100% of lowercase letters.
2.  Knows 80% of lowercase letters introduced.

MOTOR WRITING

1.  Cuts a variety of lines - zigzag, curvy, squiggly, etc - with precise accuracy, good consistent grip, turning paper.
2.  Cuts on variety of lines - zigzag, curvy, squiggly, etc. - reasonably well. May need some work on grip and turning paper.
3.  Cuts up papers with little or no accuracy, poor grip, inconsistent without turning paper.  

Prints first name using upper/lower case
1.  Prints first  and last name with upper and lower case letters using correct form.
2.  Can print first  name using upper and lower case letters introduced.
3.  Cannot print a readable name or doesn’t use correct letters introduced.

Follows a course from left to right
1.  Easily follows lines of print  left to right, top to bottom in a book where several lines are on a page -demonstrates  turning pages left to right.

1.  Names 100% of shapes easily.
2.  Names 80% of shapes.
3.  Names less than 80% of shapes.

Counts objects
1.  Using one to one correspondence, student can count objects over 20 with no errors.
2.  Using one to one correspondence, student can count to the last number introduced using an orderly way of counting.
3.   Student does not use one to one correspondence when counting and has difficulty organizing themselves to count in a specific order.

Counts by 1’s orally to:
1.  Counts over 20 with fluency.
2.  Can count to last number introduced.
3.  Cannot count to last number introduced.

Forms sets out of sequence
1.  Forms sets to 20 or higher with 100% accuracy - has excellent number awareness.
2.   Forms sets to last number studied with 80% accuracy.
3.   Forms sets to last numbers studied with less than 80% accuracy.

Completes sequence patterns
1.  Easily completes 3 or more part patterns.
