Literacy:
Identify the upper case and lowercase letters of the alphabet and be able to write them from memory using the proper formations. Identify word families and use them to read and write new words (at, an, ig, ot, op, en, it, et, og, ox).
Identify and understand punctuation in various texts.  (period, question mark, exclamation point, comma, quotation marks) Read stories within the child's reading level.By the end of the year the child should be reading at a "B" level book independently.
Identify the sounds for the consonants and vowels, long and short. Demonstrate proper listening behaviors. (eye contact, lips locked, body focused)
Read all 41 of the Kindergarten sight words fluently alone and in text. Develop appropriate speaking skills. (clear loud voice for an audience, use of complete sentences when speaking)
Retell  a story in sequence and recall the important details.  (beginning-characters & setting, middle-problem, end- conclusion) Become familiar with and use strategies to aid in the comprehension of stories.
Identify rhyming words. Write simple journal entries (expressing complete thoughts while modeling sentence structure- Capital at the beginning, spaces, punctuation at the end).
 

Math: 
Identify and explore shape combinations for the 10 shapes. (square, circle, triangle, oval, rectangle, octagon, rhombus, hexagon, trapezoid,pentagon)  Count objects to demonstrate 1 to 1 correspondence.
Identify the 8 basic colors and read the color words.  Count orally by 1's to 100.
Demonstrate positional words(ex: between, over, under etc...). Form sets to represent given numbers.
Create and continue a 2 to 3 part pattern. Sort and classify objects and be able to explain reasoning.
Write numerals out of sequence 0-20 from memory. Compare and measure objects using standard (inch) and non-standard units.
Identify the numerals 0-20 and read the number words 0-10.  Demonstrate simple addition and subtraction problems using manipulatives and the number line. 
Understand what a clock is for and tell time to the hour and 1/2 hour. Identify the 4 basic coins (penny, nickel, dime, & quarter) and be able to combine simple coin amounts.
Children will explore larger numbers and identify place value (hundreds, tens, ones).  Children will be able to count by 5's and 10's and will be exposed to counting by 2's.
