Best of friends! (most of the time)
My little angels
I
grew up in Papillion Nebraska which is a suburb of Omaha and I have one
younger brother who lives in California. After graduating I went
on to receive my Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in early
childhood from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. I
then moved to Rapid City with my husband Chris in 1996 where I began
teaching out here at Douglas. I got my start teaching the
Kindergarten Enrichment program which was an extension of the half day
program through the childcare services. I did this for 3 years
one of which I also taught a half day of regular Kindergarten.
Then Douglas switched to an all day Kindergarten program in 1999
and I have taught all day Kindergarten since that time.
I enjoy spending time with my family,
working with children, going to craft shows, reading, and being
outdoors. I met my husband Chris in college and he is also a
teacher. He teaches at the middle school here and is also a
basketball coach at the high school. We have 3 children who are
such a blessing. Our first child has four legs, white fur, and
her name is Tuffy. She loves to play with our other two children
and is always full of love. My son was born in November of
2000 and has a great heart. He loves to help out and amazes me
with all he is learning. He plays soccer, baseball, basketball,
and loves to swim. My daughter was born in March of 2003 and is
my little princess and firecracker. She knows what she wants and
goes after it which keeps us on our toes. She loves stories,
painting her toes, snuggling, and has started taking Ballet which is so
fun to watch. I just can't believe how fast they are growing up!
My belief is that all children can learn
and are unique in how they go about doing so. Each child is an
individual and I like for the children to feel as if we are all part of
one big family. We all care about each other and have something
to offer and learn from one another. In my teaching I provide a
variety of learning strategies to help meet the needs of each child.
I also feel it's very important to work together as a team with
you the parent. You are your child's first teacher and know them
better than anyone else. By working together we can provide your
child with a positive learning experience, paving the way for a future
of learning.
