The following information is provided
as a means of clarifying the policies and procedures affecting
the physical education program in the middle school.
All students participating in physical education will need to
comply to the following requirements:
1. All students are required to wear
appropriate clothing for scheduled gym classes. Items are to include:
Gym Shorts or Sweats
T-Shirts or Sweatshirt (no half shirt)
Socks (cotton is the best)
Gym Shoes (nonmarking soles please)
Towel, Deodorant, Soap
CUT OFF JEANS ARE NOT PERMITTED!
2. All students will be issued lockers and are responsible for keeping items secure at all times.
3. Students are required to take all clothing home for laundering following their last scheduled class. Towels are to be taken home after each gym class.
4. Students are required to dress for each gym class and take shower. Remember that taking a shower is part of gym class. Failure to shower will result in grade reduction!
5. Excuse from class participation may be granted only under the following conditions:
a. Instructor may excuse a student on
a daily basis, not to exceed 2 days.
b. Requests to be excused from active participation in PE classes
for an extended period of time or on a continuing basis must be
verified by a physician's statement.
c. Any student that sees a physician for any reason, and is going
to be excused from class, must have a physician's statement to
verify the excused class.
d. Students that are excused from class will be required to do
classroom work assigned by instructor.
6. Students that do not bring the required clothing to class will be dealt with in 2 phases.
PHASE 1. The first time without clothes the student will be required to participate in his/her regular school clothes.
PHASE 2. The 2nd time without clothing and every time thereafter until the end of the quarter, the student will be given ONE NIGHT DETENTION.
