Meet Mrs. Hencke!

 
My name is Tammy Hencke and I am honored to be your child's first grade teacher.
As you read through my web page I hope that it will become obvious to you how much I adore children and absolutely love teaching first grade. 
Personal   * Born in Rapid City and have always lived in the Black Hills area.  My husband is a flight chief for aircraft maintenance stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Witchita Falls,Texas. 
We have one daughter, two sons and one grandson.
Interests   * My interests include decorating, reading, fishing and attending any activity that my children are involved in.  I cherish time spent with my family and am proud to be a Christian and also an American!
Experience & Education   * I received my Bachelor's  degree from Black Hills State University with a double major in Elementary and Special Education.

  * In 1998 I went back to Black Hills State University and received my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialist endorsement.

  * In 2003 I completed an additional 45 hours specializing in reading and attention deficit disorders.

  * I have taught first grade for seventeen years and special education  for one.

All children can learn given a safe, consistent and loving environment.
Children deserve respect always.
Teachers should hold high expectations for every child.
Teachers should provide a learning environment that fosters growth in both social and academic skills.
Parents and teachers are partners in a child's learning process.
Children need to be reminded daily of their strengths.
