Students will understand and use visual arts as a means for creative self-expression and interpersonal communication.

Standard One promotes students using traditional and contemporary materials and techniques to express feelings, thoughts and ideas.  This standard emphasizes integration of visual arts into the other disciplines.
 
 
 
 

	These two slides show how two students interpretted the same assignment.  The assignment dealt with emphasis and movement within a picture.  They had a number of mediums to chose from to create their interpretation of the assignment.
	Standard One also deals with students trying different art techniques to express personal ideas.  These two pictures are works that the students did on their own time for extra credit in art.
