Incoming Transcripts

Dear Military and New Student Family,

We are committed to ensuring your incoming student receives the consideration they deserve for their hard work at their former schools. We intend to work along side you, as well as their former school, to ensure a smooth transition into DHS.  As a result, we will honor your child's coursework with as much fidelity as possible.

Douglas High School subscribes to a 4.0 grade point scale, with the exception of our Honors English 9, Honors English 10, Honors English 11 and all AP courses. These Honors and AP courses, taken at Douglas High School, are weighted on a 5.0 grade point scale. However, you'll be happy to know that when new students transfer into Douglas High School, we honor their transcript as it reads from the previous school.  So any of those courses for which your student received a weighted grade, and which DHS does NOT offer, you will still receive the earned 5.0 weight.  We do not alter course weight.  It should be noted however that this is done to remain consistently accurate while NOT altering credit issued by another accredited school.  As a result, specific courses weighted on a 5.0 scale at DHS will NOT be "bumped up" if they are weighted on a 4.0 at your previous school.

In unique situations where the amount of credit issued from a previous school drastically differs from the traditional systems, we will be in contact with you to discuss our thoughts.  Again, our primary goal is to ensure a smooth transition for your child and allow them the opportunity to focus on what's important, their future success.

Should you have any questions, please contact our counseling department (605) 923-0041, or contact me personally.  I would happy to assist.

Welcome to Douglas Schools.

Sincerely,

Beau Voegeli

Principal
