Welcome to Vandenberg Elementary School. Our school was built in 1952 and was originally called the Weaver School. It was the first structure used specifically for the education of the children of Ellsworth Air Force Base personnel. Vandenberg was named for General Hoyt S. Vandenberg, Air Force Chief of Staff from 1948-1953.
Vandenberg’s student population is approximately 390 fourth and fifth grade students with 53 staff members. We have a diverse population with many military dependents, local Box Elder, Rapid Valley and southern Meade county students.
Our students enjoy Art, Computer, Library, Music and Physical Education every week in addition to their regular class. In addition, we are please to offer our students additional support services such as gifted, counseling, nursing, Title 1, and special education.
Our staff and students are proud of our school, community and our country. We are the Douglas Patriots!
