April 8, 2020: We want to acknowledge the hard work, flexibility and kindness that has been shown by all members of our district community. It has not been an easy task to move k-12 learning to "remote learning" overnight for families or schools. We are all making adjustments and improving each day with this new way of "school" we find ourselves in. We appreciate all your efforts. Our scheduled Spring Break is April 9 -13 and we want our families and staff members to use these days to take a much needed break and enjoy a few days of family time without the stress of school. During Spring Break, NO LUNCH/BREAKFAST MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED. April 9- No Lunch Service, April 10- No Lunch Service, April 13- No Lunch Service, April 14- LUNCH SERVICE RESUMES. Douglas FOOD PANTRY WILL BE OPEN on Thursday night. April 9- 3:30 - 6:00 pm at DSD Warehouse. Bus service will also run as scheduled for the Food Pantry.

March 24, 2020: UPDATE: Emergency Board Meeting Rescheduled for WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2020 at 4 pm at Vandenberg Elementary. The agenda item will be to discuss continued pay for classified employees through May 1, 2020. Today Gov. Noem announced that schools remain closed until May 1, 2020. March 17, 2020: The Governor of SD announced today that all schools will be closed the week of March 23 - March 27. During this time, the Douglas School District will provide flex, or alternate education. This closure is in response to the Coronavirus.
March 16, 2020: Beginning TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2020 Douglas School District will be offering FREE bagged lunch for anyone age 18 and under and in need of food assistance. We will offer drive-up services at Douglas Middle School, as well as multiple bus routes to deliver lunches. TIME: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm DATES: March 17 - 20 Please read attachment for all details.
March 13, 2020: Douglas Families, At the request of Governor Kristi Noem, all public schools will be closed MARCH 16 - 20, 2020. This includes the cancellation of school and all activities. Other important information: • ALL schools and offices will not be staffed during this closure, including Douglas Central Office. • The ONLY activities that will continue as normal for March 13 -14, are the HS Cabaret and MS Theater Production. • Douglas Food Pantry will be open on THURSDAY, MARCH 19 from 3:30 - 6:00 for any families in need of food assistance. • Annual Household Renewals will be opened for online completion only. This can be completed for any current student that will be returning to Douglas Schools for the 2020 - 2021 school year. If you have questions, need assistance or need access to a computer, you will have to wait until school resumes. • Building principals will be communicating instructional expectations for students. We will continue to provide updates through the district website, dsdk12.net, as well as FaceBook and/or Douglas’ Emergency Messenger. We appreciate all of your patience during this unprecedented event that South Dakota and the world is experiencing. Douglas School District will follow the guidance of our local, state, and federal health officials.
