BC Playground Safety

Be Safe
  • Use the playground equipment, tables, and benches correctly. 
  • When the bell rings or the whistle blows, stop playing and line up.
  • The rocks should stay on the ground, no throwing them.
  • When it snows, stay off the ice and snow hills. 
 
Be Responsible
  • Throw away your snack trash in a trash can.
  • Play games or with equipment fairly and take turns. 
  • Put playground equipment away when you are finished playing with it. 
  • Report any problems to one of the adults supervising the playground. 
 
Be Respectful
  • Use kind words towards others on the playground.
  • Follow the directions given to you by any of the adults supervising the playground. 
  • Accept the decision or consequence given by any of the adults supervising the playground.

Swings
  • Sit on the swings, but do not stand on the swings.
  • If you push a friend, make sure to do it safely.
  • Walk carefully around the swings, do not run through them.
  • Slides
  • Only one person should go down the slide at a time.
  • Slide down on your bottom, not on your stomach.
  • You should slide feet first, not head first. 
  • After going down the slide, make sure to move out of the way for the next person’s turn. 
  • Do no block the top of the slide, let everyone have a turn.

Monkey Bars
  • Do climb under the monkey bars with your hands.
  • Do not climb on top of the monkey bars and scoot across on your bottom.
  • If someone is moving towards you on the monkey bars, do not start your turn until they are finished.
  • If two people are hanging from the bars, they need to keep their feet to themselves. 

Parallel Bars
  • You can hang from the bars with your hands or legs.
  • You can sit on the bars, but you cannot stand on the bars.
  • Walk carefully around the bars, because others might be spinning and not see you.

Climbing Wall
  • Go slowly while climbing the wall. 
  • Use the hand holds while climbing. 
  • Climb back down the wall, do not jump off. 
  • You are not allowed to climb over the top of the wall to the other side. 

Spinner
  • There can only be 3 people on the spinner. 
  • There can only be 1 person spinning the spinner. 
  • You can only spin 3 times.
  • You can sit or stand on the spinner.
  • You must keep your feet on the spinner at all times.

Spinner
  • Only one person is allowed to sit in each seat.
  • Only one person is allowed to stand in each standing spot.
  • You must keep your feet on the spinner at all times.
  • The standing students will push the spinner using the red circle piece at the top.
  • You must keep your feet down when spinning

Blacktop 
  • Football should be played on the big blacktop area.
  • Tackling is not allowed when playing football. 
  • Do not climb or hang on the soccer goal.
  • Do not climb the basketball hoop poles. 
  • Try to include everyone who wants to play, and divide the teams evenly. 
  • Talk about how you are going to play the game before you start. 

Lining Up - CHAMPS
  • C - Voice Level - no voices in line
  • H - Raise Hand
  • A - When the bell rings or the whistle blows, stop and line up immediately
  • M - Face forward, hands and feet to self
  • P - Stay in a straight line, listen to further instructions
  • S - Success!
