Beginning of the Year Letter
I am delighted to be your child’s first grade teacher this year. I am looking forward to a very successful year, and I know you are too. I have high expectations for your child, and I will be doing all I can to help achieve those expectations.
During the year, your child will be working especially hard on developing reading strategies, writing, and many different mathematical concepts. Reading with your child, helping him/her complete the math homework and play the math games, studying high frequency words and spelling words, and writing with your child will greatly help him/her. This should take no more than 20 minutes a night. Your help and support will not only make your child more successful in school this year, but will instill good work habits that will last a lifetime.
Communication between home and school is very important. Please call me at school between 7:30-7:55 am or 3:00-3:30 pm with any questions or concerns (923-0080) or email me anytime at email@example.com. I will be posting a newsletter to our webpage (dsdk12.net) at the beginning of each month so you know what will be happening in room 20. I have also set up our class with Remind.com to send information and reminders. Thank you for entrusting me with your child’s education this year.
