hey everyone I'm mrs. Jen and I teach second grade at Badger Clark and I am in room 5 and I'm going to be your teacher this year so here is some information that I think you'll like because it will help make sure you are prepared for your first day of second grade going to go ahead and get that information up real quick okay so again I miss you Duncan I meant I'm at Badger Clark and I'm in room 5 and this is just some information to get to know me a little bit I'm I grew up in South Dakota I've been in the Black Hills pretty much my entire life my husband and I we live in Somerset I have two dogs and this is my fourth year of teaching second grade and then here is just some information about me my favorite things I'm a big coffee drinker where I like to shop a type of books that I like to read Hobbies that type of stuff so I was just an information to get to know me a little bit and then here is my contact information as well I do use ClassDojo a lot I do like to post pictures and videos and keep parents up to about what we're doing in the classroom and they're here is also my email if you have a have a question and you prefer to email me on Kelsey. Duncan. K12. SD. You ask a nurse also the phone number for the school if you ever need to call the school for anything that is right there for you usually ClassDojo is the best way to contact me because that links directly to my phone and my computer however if you do need to get a hold of me by you there's the school information as well in my email Amazon drop off information it's pretty much the same as last year if you are a student who gets dropped off and you do not eat breakfast at the school you will use the west side entrance there's a y labeled above those doors and you use that entrance to go to the playground and then if you are breakfast and you do get dropped off I'm you will use those Double D Doors by the cafeteria to enter the building and go directly into the cafeteria if you're a bus rider I'm you will go through the carousel the worst and then from there you will either go directly to the playground or you can head down to 3rd grade hallway and go to breakfast if you still need to eat breakfast I'm so that's just some drop off information and then how I just missed you. at the end of the day usually I will dismiss them out our exit door which is they will be five and then but if there is any inclement weather snow rap icy sidewalks anything like that I may dismiss them out the Double D Doors by the cafeteria that's what's nice about these door is that they're just too doors away from each other so if you're out in the parking lot in front of the school I'm kind of where the buses are you'll be able to see both of those doors from that location so they're not too far away from each other I understand classroom procedures and expectation I'm students will be expected to sanitizer washed her hands periodically throughout the day just to keep everyone healthy and then there's also going to be random text temperature text throughout the day and then they all are also expected to keep Supply bags if you have Supply bags like this these little pencil pouches I found that those typically hold more supplies than the hardcover pencil boxes so those are bird and they're easier to store however if you have a hard cover that she wanted was I'm perfectly fine with that I just found that these ones are a little bit better for students because they whole they hold more supplies and then we are starting a new program this year for reading foundational skills and as of right now we know that there are going to be weekly spelling test so your child will have new words every week to practice at home that's the main thing that I can think of for homework that they may want to do at home since this is new we don't know everything about the program just yet we're still kind of going through and trying to pick Parts out so if if anything ever changes I will be in contact and I will let you know I'm but so are the spelling tests are the main things and that will be sent home every week so you will understand what words they have and when they need to start practicing them and I'm just an information for the 2 mm 21 mm school year on breakfast starts at 7:30 a m in before school or Isa starts at 7:40 a.m. please don't drop off your school your children before 7:30 just because we don't have any supervision out at that time and we don't want some happened to them so please make sure if you're dropping off your child make sure you do it after 7:30 and then our instruction time is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this school year and students will need their own water bottle because we do not have the water fountains available look in this year so we would prefer it if you bring a water bottle something easy that they connect can access and then please also only put some clear liquids in those chests we do have carpet in our classroom and we want to avoid any any spills if possible but if they do spill it happens it'll be fine but clear liquids and then we do have an early lunch students are allowed to bring an afternoon snack because we do eat lunch at 10:30 so by the afternoon they might be getting kind of hungry just please no sugary candy snacks anything like that just because wants to eat that sometimes getting their focus. a little bit harder and snack is optional they don't have to bring one if they don't want you they are welcome too if they don't have a snack I do not provide because it is optional also if we do have to go work from home for any reason I'm hoping that we don't but if we do we will be using Google Classroom again this year and I will go over with the kids in class how to access everything go over where everything is so they will be trained and it just in case something does happen they will be prepared for if that time comes which hopefully it won't happen but if it does they should be prepared and I know some teachers they require you to label all your school supplies I leave that is optional to you if you want to do it feel free but that's not something I required and then also last but now at least we do have Friday Fuller's that will be sent home at the end of every week in the Friday folders includes any information that the school may send out for fundraisers or anything in the community I'm it also includes your child's graded work you kind of keep up-to-date about how well they're doing the only thing that I ask is that you empty that folder at the end of every week and then send the empty folder back on Monday so that way I can add more I'm Trout the week and then also if you have something important that you need to get to me you can also put that in that folder if you do that though I do request that you sent me a message on dojo or call the well or email me just because sometimes I may not get to those folders until a couple days into the week and if it is something important I want to make sure I get to it as soon as possible but that is everything that I have for you I'm if you have any question please feel free to send me a message on dojo if you're already connected to it again my email is Kelsey. Duncan at K12. SD. Us and then the your phone is 605-923-0080 I hope this helps I hope it was beneficial for you again reach out for anything if you need anything and I can't wait to meet you all
