Hello and welcome to Douglas High School my name is Jesse Walton and I am the family and consumer science teacher here at Douglas this will be my sixth year teaching and I'm located in room 13 if you're not familiar with family consumer science I am in the CTE or Career and Technical education department and a lot of what it involves is teaching students life skills and Hands-On learning through Labs especially my foods classes and we do a lot of career exploration classes that I offer here right now are nutrition and wellness and advanced Foods human development one and human development two the best way to contact me would be my email or all students will have a Google classroom and is information that they may need will be posted daily there as well as my behavior and expectations requirements we will be going over those the first week of school one of the biggest expectations that I have for students right now is that their phones be put away during class now that we are a one-to-one school all students have computer access to the internet and any information that they may need for any of my assignments they will have easy access to the phones do serve as a distraction and just like in any workplace ask that it's put away so that they can concentrate on what's going on in the classroom I don't ask for students to bring anything to class (other than everyday materials) I provide everything that they will need they will have folders in class that will have any resources or any assignment rubrics I do give them class time to complete assignments I don't generally send home homework unless they were absent or something that maybe they missed the due date on and need to complete but generally I do give them time in class to complete all assignments if you do have a student that's taking any of my foods classes I would ask that I be aware of or that I am made aware of any allergies so that I can plan accordingly and try to make my classroom the safest possible space for them and I am looking forward to a great year with your students please feel free to ask me any questions if you have any concerns
