call mrs. Dorada I'm the librarian at Douglass High School and in addition to the work that I do as a librarian here in the library I also teach two courses and one is Library science torture MN Library chance is a one-year course it's more of a survey course that goes over all the aspects of working in libraries and I'm working in schools as well and also researching the students themselves don't write research papers or do projects but they learn how to use the Douglas High School library that's where my classroom is alright so here's how you get ahold of me my email address directions on how to get to the library website you'll find lots of stuff there about what we offer in the library there's magazines although I will say those are going to be updated when they start coming in route we're getting some new stuff the yardbook again still need to update that as of the moment that I'm making this video for the art books this year we have audio any books available through overdriving access doze on the Sora app on our devices or on our computers the Sora website and also there's a link to our library catalog and also State Library where you can find the databases that they offer for everybody who lives in South Dakota any of these social media sites a little bit about expectations I have to General expectations for the library in in general okay specific to my courses that I'm teaching and those are that we are not disruptive and we are not destructive he's our accessibility and safety issues we want to make sure the library is a place that is safe for all and it's also a place where people can come in and get work done for their classes so my expectations are here you respect each other you respect yourself you respect the property in the library we like to have fun in the library play the plan for activities for students to do in their down time during lunch games and puzzles and other programs that we come up with throughout the course of the year and so you know I want got to be going on I want everybody to have a nice time when they're in the library but at the same time it can't be disruptive because we also are a place for students to come in and work we have to respect that as well and then for my actual students in my classes that I have another expectation and that is that you participate fully in the course and that no phones I'll be out during class time phones have to be kept in your backpack put away okay during class time really busy as I kind of giving a little bit of a idea before the things my students do in class he can get very hectic and so we just don't have time to be on our phone all right I don't give homework I assigned things throughout the week but everything is due on Friday and we do it that way because in the library you really never know how busy you're going to be we can never wait till the last minute to get for our next thing because you never know what somebody is going to need so one day we might be really busy cutting out letters for a teacher and don't have time to do our assignments for Library science and because it won't be until Friday you'll have more time to get your assignments done I don't expect you to take things home for homework okay I want to talk about is the library book club in teen Advisory board if anybody's interested in joining the first and third Wednesday of each month and that's when we have our general meetings and our business meetings as well might talk about book we might have an activity to do and we might have to make some decisions that would be the business meeting part things that we would like to see happening in the this is also the teen Advisory Board okay and then do students also run the library Cafe and that is Monday and Friday mornings before school come in and run the coffee shop and some students like to come Monday and Friday but you don't have to we can work that out if you are whenever you're able to come and work in the coffee shop that would be great if you're interested come to the library for more information there will be signage around the school posting it on social media as well so if you want to join us come on the 1st of September all right looking forward to school
