NEW Updates

SBAC TESTING WEEK: All grades will be testing next week. Support your student by making sure they get enough sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast before coming to school unless they plan on buying breakfast on those mornings.

We are still looking for a few snacks: granola bars, cheez-its, crackers, etc.  The deadline has been extended to allow more parents to participate! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0948AEA722ABFFC16-48221235-support#/

LUNCHROOM REMINDERS:   As we near the end of the year, please remind your student about appropriate lunchroom behavior.  Over the past few weeks, we have had quite a few incidents of students leaving garbage on tables, smashing food onto surfaces, throwing food, excessive shouting/noise making, and other behavior not appropriate during mealtime.  We appreciate your help and support.

LUNCH BALANCES:   Please make sure to check your student’s lunch balance.  If you want a reminder email when your student has a negative balance, you must opt into that email through campus, otherwise you will not be notified your account is deficient.  We appreciate your attention to this matter.

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL:   Students are asked to not arrive at school before 7:30 am unless attending an activity/event with a staff member.  At the end of the day, all students not in an organized practice are expected to leave the campus by 3:30 pm.  This helps ensure our students stay safe and supervised as we do not have supervision before 7:30 am or after 3:30 pm.

6th GRADE BAND CONCERT:  NOW May 2nd @ 6pm.  All other grades will have their band concert at their original time.

DMS INCENTIVE DANCE:  May 3rd from 1 pm- 3pm.  Admission is free for all that have no failing classes.  You may bring money for concessions. If you have 25 PATS tickets you can exchange them form 1 Meal Deal coupon. Not interested in the dance?  We will have a movie in the auditorium and games in the cafeteria.

Students that are failing any classes will be in academic recovery classrooms.  Hope to see you there.

8th GRADE GRADUATION: May 21st at 1:00 in the DMS gym. Families and guests are welcome to this event.

Our Native American students are invited to wear any of their cultural regalia to graduation. This includes displaying a star quilt or blanket as well. Students are also welcome to wear feathers or plumes as appropriate.

Although the MS will not be offering a feather tying ceremony for 8th graduates this year, we are proud to honor our Native American students' culture, as well as any other culture represented by our students at graduation.

TARDIES/ ATTENDANCE: Parents and families are essential partners in promoting good attendance because they have the bottom-line responsibility for making sure their children get to school every day. Just as parents should focus on how their children are performing academically, they have a responsibility to set expectations for good attendance and to monitor their children’s absences, so that missed days don’t add up to academic trouble. For more information on how to support your student's attendance visit: https://www.attendanceworks.org/
