Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Douglas Middle School

Our District Mission:

“Prepare all students to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.”

-We have heard from parents about traffic and safety concerns in our parking lot due to student pick up and the patience with traffic flow.  In looking for options to try and solve these issues, we worked with local law enforcement and district administration to look for answers to make things safer for our students.  We ask that you remain patient as we try to create an efficient traffic flow plan and most importantly keep our students safe with all the traffic in the parking lot before and after school.  We are asking that you utilize the parking spaces when picking up your children.  Please pull into parking spaces as you wait for your child to come out after school.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

-An important reminder from Mr. Sheets’ office, you may not hang out at school after school hours, you need to go home when the 3:05p bell rings unless you are with a coach, a teacher or you are staying for after school detention.  You may go to the community library at the high school to work on your homework but you may not hang out in the halls at either building.  The cafeteria is also off limits after school at both places.  Again, you must be with a teacher, a coach, at the community library or in detention if you are here after 3:05p.  If you are here waiting for a ride, you may wait outside in front of the school and you must have a ride here no later than 3:30p.

Thank you visiting the Douglas Middle School website.  My name is Mr. Baldwin, I have been the Principal at Douglas Middle School since 2007. It’s my privilege to represent such an outstanding school.  Our highly qualified staff strives to build a productive school environment with common goals towards student success. We provide a variety of activities that make our middle school experience rewarding for all students.

DMS offers educational and extracurricular programs for students in grades six through eight. The school has a student population of more than 600 students and over 70 teachers and other staff. Each of the grades are divided into two core teams and the special education, elective, and general course staff serve alongside the core teams. The school maintains a full-time counseling office and has special services intervention staff for students with specific needs as well as gifted programs.

We have many specialists who provide help in areas of behavior, speech, and other special needs.  Our library has more than 10,000 books along with a selection of periodicals, audio, e-books, and other reference materials.  The large collection of resources our 21st century library supplies supports the common core state standards.

Douglas Middle School takes great pride in providing all students an opportunity to learn and grow in a positive climate; recognizing each student as an individual.  This is accomplished through a differentiated instructional approach to help all students succeed.  The Integration of technology and many other hands-on projects offered, creates an environment that encourages students to involve themselves with their own learning. DMS prides itself in providing an academically challenging curriculum that engages the student learner.

Please visit the rest our website and feel free to call or email with any questions.  This is going to be a great year!
