DSD wins Community Helping Hands Award

The successful partnership between our district and Feeding South Dakota was recognized with the Community Helping Hands Award at the School Administrators of South Dakota (SASD) Convention in Sioux Falls.
In partnership with Feeding South Dakota, DSD opened a food pantry in 2020. The pantry is available to district families twice per month and serves 160 to 200 families monthly. As an added bonus, students in our 18-21 transition program, also called our Bridge Program, have learned valuable skills volunteering at the pantry.
Accepting the award in Sioux Falls in August is Buildings and Grounds Coordinator Jace Waltman and Bridge Program teacher Denise Stiles.
