Student Registration

Welcome to the Douglas School District in Box Elder, South Dakota--Home of the Patriots!

In order to register your child(ren) in the Douglas School District, you must be the biological custodial parent or legal guardian and you must live in the Douglas School District. You will be required to submit documentation of both requirements before the student registration will be approved.

South Dakota Codified Law 13-28-9 states ..."school residence for the purpose of claiming free school privileges means the legal residence of the student's parents..." or where the parent/legal guardian actually lives. The law is clear that the legal residence of the parent(s) determines where the student goes to school. If you do not know if your address is in the Douglas School District, please call 605-923-0000, and we will be glad to look it up for you.

Douglas School District uses an online process for new student registration. You will be required to provide the documents specified below in the "List of Required Documents for Registration" after you submit the online application. Click on the link provided below and follow the instructions. If you do not have access to a computer or internet service, you may use the kiosk computer set up in our office as the program is not very smart phone friendly.  If at any time you have questions or need assistance, do not hesitate to call us at 605-923-0000.

Be aware that we do verify the information provided and if, it is determined that a parent/legal guardian has falsified information in order to register, the enrollment can be immediately cancelled; parent/legal guardian will be responsible for payment of tuition for any time period child(ren) were enrolled; and parent/legal guardian may be liable for criminal prosecution.

We look forward to meeting you and providing for the educational needs of your child(ren).
