hi everyone my name is mrs. Simon and I am the teacher in room 183 at Vandenberg and you'll be joining me here next week it is my twenty-third year hear it. mostly got in fourth grade I'm married and I have one since the School of Mines and two stepchildren Oregon I grew up in South Dakota and I've been here almost all of my life in the summer I like to play golf in Winter I enjoy playing pool that's a little bit about me I just here every fall I get really excited for a new class I got blessed with new group of students so I could spend time with and learn from them I look forward to working with the serious and the silly the artistic in the athletic the kind-hearted and inquisitive little kids could come in to make up our class next week it will be back to work will review the skills and look at new ones now the academic areas and I will spend a nice summer break and I'm hoping to get a little something to keep things fresh maybe read a book you're in there but either way we'll start where we need to and move forward from there make it a successful year for basic school and classroom rules there be respectful be responsible be kind and be safe there very very broad but if we follow these simple guidelines will have a positive successful fourth grade year and on that note the behavior management and communication tools that I use the most often is Class Dojo lab you might be familiar with that a few you've already signed up quick way to monitor the student's behavior and I'd not real great about using the points all the time I generally use it more for the beginning of the year to kind of see how things are going to go if I feel like I need to keep using it I will buy don't look for the points as much as the messages you can even invited to join for my previous message but I'll also send a paper copy with the directions if you need them and I'll be used those individual Communications the great way for you to contact me if something has changed at the end of the day it's something your child needs a message or if they're feeling eligible I can send you a message real quick to get Edition will be a group email using campus math messenger where you'll receive all the notifications that pertain to the student this is our luncheon specials schedule our lunch is very late this year 12:45 to 1:25 I'll talk to you about snacks in a second here going back to the specials they are on a rotating schedule not a Monday Tuesday Wednesday so each time we miss a day of school for a in-service are things that the day actually does move and I will send a schedule each month so that you can see when to send the shoes when to send the library books and that kind of thing in our because our lunch so late the kids can bring a snack for the more if they want to I really really prefer that they'd bring healthy choices prepared fruits and vegetables probably not the oranges at that sit in class and Pila Fairfield by the great yogurt crackers things like that if they do bring cookies chips or candy they'll probably be asked to save them for their lunch to take the lunch room with them we do have a peanut allergy in our room this year so please be aware of that so no peanut butter mixed nuts and things like that gives me the thing that they really need to know especially for the first day of school is how to get home our school is the first one bench that has something called transfer buses they come in all the bus is getting our loot left behind the school here so if they are a busser they will get on a lot of them here and then transfer over Francis case in Bedford Park where they may have to get off of the original bus and will feed everyone and we work through all of that but just to make sure that goes smoothly make sure that your she knows our correct bus number and send that bus number on a note with students we will make sure they get where they need to be if you're picking up you'll meet in the loop at the front of the school if your child walks or ride the bike make sure he or she knows the way home and it really is a good idea practice that route with them talk about Crossing Road safely it gets very very busy at that time of day talk about on crosswalks and those kinds of things just want to make sure everyone gets home safely there's some contact information here that you can see we email calling the school you have to leave a message so I can get back to you soon as I can but the class dojo app he is the most expedient way to get ahold of me but please please please make sure that the school has all of your correct information is always really important that we are able to get ahold of you if we need to if you change your phone numbers or have a different email address or if you have more than one number that would be great our open house is coming up on Monday August 23rd will be here from 3:30 to 6 would be great if you could stop in and do a little walk through if you want to in their supplies and drop them off take me to do that we can take a visit for a little bit and make sure but he's comfortable our first day of school will be Wednesday August 25th from 7:45 morning to 2:45 the kids can be dropped off not before 7:30 making it to go to the playground or get breakfast I look forward to meeting you all and look forward to an exciting and successful School thank you
