An introduction for all who are entering Mr. McFarland's 5th grade class.

hello I miss McFarland and if you watching this probably the scariest know it's like to be in my class over the first two I like to be able to just tell you a bit about where I'm from and who I am terms of Education in general I'm from Sioux Falls South Dakota after I graduated from high school and it up going and getting my degree at USD after I finish there at back to Sioux Falls and proceeded to become a special education teacher at Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare after I had work there with kids sets wide array of different needs and ability levels I decided I really wanted to get back to what made me want to get into teaching so I ended up getting into the Sioux Falls School District and started teaching at Cleveland Elementary and I taught there for about 3 years teaching 5th grade then I realize how awesome amazing I left it on the other side of the state always had a soft spot for the Black Hills and little did I know that I'd be fine myself getting offered a job all the way out here Box Elder this will be my fourth year teaching fifth grade at Vandenberg Elementary so much great school and every year seems to just be gay better and better than the one before now right quick you trying to contact me best way to probably do it it's going to be through my school email these Kyle. Firelands at K12 that SD that us otherwise you should be checking your email because I probably already sent you a ClassDojo invite from there I'm pretty much going be using ClassDojo as just a means to message everybody in the room back and forth get in contact with parents and if you have questions for me of course feel free to ask now as for bass classroom expectations like thanks pretty straightforward in terms of things that fifth graders should definitely already have figured out in terms of you know you got to respect everyone realistically it's all about the Golden Rule treat others the way you want to be treated and I just seems to Echo and your actions and everything else you do throughout the school year end course some school work you going to try your best always I know there's situations where you might feel like I owe math might not be as strong as subject or writing might not be your strongest subject but you're always giving at your back we're all here to learn and grow and also where you finish your work that's one thing that definitely has to happen is that you have to constantly be keeping up with your work some kids ask if it's ready at a lot of homework typically might not have that much homework but you absolutely need to stay on top of everything that you're being asked to do then you will definitely have homework if you do not complete the work that's given to you that'll be a way that you always have things that you'll take home but other than that times you will be just fine because you are working hard you have a good attitude and you trying your best are there any circumstances in which you would end up getting homework would be if you were absent for being sick and the last year definitely a lot of times where people had to make up some work because obviously they were letting me out sick and other times there's situations kids just don't understand how to complete the task and so that's why I always have to say you have to ask for help if you don't ask for help it's an easy way to kind of fall behind and you struggling but you struggling silently that's why you came here to learn and that's why you're in my room so I can be able to help you out so we can always remember that's route now there are occasions when you can absolutely expect to have homework and that's going to be situations where I need to constantly switch out the I need to make sure that you were ready for Middle yeah getting older you're more responsibilities and there's times when I will be providing you with with homework or extra credit opportunities now if you ever get extra credit opportunity for me probably not going to be that much work and if you're watching this is typically always some kind of cool incentive I like to reward your behavior and so if you get some extra credit that's offering to you and ultimately when you come into the classroom it's all about like I said respecting everyone I'm expecting the property of the classroom in the building respecting your neighbors doesn't have to be your best friend but we all need to learn how to work well with each other also maybe you are working next to your best friend you need to know how to actually complete work then if you have a friend right there next to you in addition Zack go to we're going to have a phenomenal time you going to thoroughly enjoy if it's great experience promise I'll make it too painful and one big thing I'll keep repeating all throughout the year no put-downs that means you're not making anybody else feel bad weather you're trying to be funny or maybe you want to get back or maybe what you trying to do is tell everybody else that maybe you're not good enough or something and that's what I mean by no put-downs we're all here to learn to not say that you absolutely cannot be able to complete something it cuz you know that's not the case everybody's here to learn and grow about different things but most of all you get the feeling that we're all in this together so anyways I look forward to seeing everybody at the open house next Monday evening and I look forward to even more so saying everybody on the first day of school next week so thank you very much
