hi my name is Lindsay Dale and I am a teacher at Patriot Elementary School in the badger Clark Wing I teach third grade I'm in room 117 I've been teaching for 11 years now I taught kindergarten for three years in the state of Tennessee and this will be my eighth year teaching 3rd grade in the Douglas School District my primary contact that I really like to use is Class Dojo so if you join my class on the very first day you'll be getting a note asking you to join our class dojo site it's similar to kind of like Facebook has a messaging system that just you and myself can message back and forth also the news feed page where I like to post pictures of it something that we're doing on my post note to come home from the office and any other important information that you might need to know also on that page I also post daily how your child did that might be a positive call them ping a positive thing I'm about to bring good that they did that day or maybe more negative things I'm of a consequence of Batman of receipts that day how they get a consequence of my classroom is pretty simple I use a strategy called 1-2-3 Magic on what that means that your child gets to mornings before they actually received that consequence so I consider it similar to baseball like they get to strikes and then they're out so for instance if your child is talking with someone else is talking I might say okay that's one so that's our first warning and I'm Mark that down on the clipboard so then your child continues to interrupt while the lessons going on and I say okay that's too still not in trouble just a warning and I'm Mark that on my clipboard then if your child continues to behave I'll stay that's three and then your child gets the final mark on the clipboard what that means is that when we go outside to recess your child will owe me a little bit of their recess time and then you will also be notified that you received the consequence that day if they only received Striker to strike I consider that a positive day because they chose to turn her behavior around and to make better choices so you won't even be informed about you only be informed if I had to get on to them about a behavior for three times and they had to owe me time now there are some behaviors that will automatically send them to refocus room some of those behaviors would be like hitting or using inappropriate language at school or doing something inappropriate like that in that realm I will also send you a message on dojo that they had to go to time and are the result guest room and explain why they went and then you also probably receive a call from either Mr Murray or Miss Jen to kind of explain more what happened that day something else is our homework expectations so something that we sent home is math homework and we send that home Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday I don't send him or come over the weekend I think kids should be kids over the weekend and they work hard enough during the week I do hope that the he just come back the next day if you're not able to do it that night then it is totally okay if you maybe do it the next night and send it in your child will not be penalized for getting in trouble for not doing the homework I understand that sometimes life happens at home just can't get around to it another thing that will go home as a monthly Reading Log and that your child will just document what books they read and for how long they read each night there'll be a goal that will be set and your child's school is a try to reach how many minutes do a ride for that month from those I'll check their folders everyday and I will check their math and their reading log there'll be a sticker chart inside their folder and for each math and night that they red though Guetta mark on their sticker chart when their sticker chart is all full until class treasure box and there's candy and gum and pencils and all kinds of fun stuff in there so I give positive back for homework but I do not give out a consequence for not completing homework because I sometimes life just happens but I do hope that you do the homework because it is really good practice for your child to become a better mathematician or a better reader and also lets you see what they're doing well at and what they also might need some help them to finally I want to go over our just some classroom expectations and that we have in our room one of the things that just please make sure you bring that daily folder back every single day it's a blue Douglas Patriot folder we do the homework chart in there the reading log will be stapled in there and all of our location from the office can go back and forth our main communication will be through ClassDojo but the offices will be through that folder so it's just a nice way to get are also sometimes when we don't have the folder and her backpack a cramp in her locker and then you missed out on that information and then finally I just also want to talk about that one of the biggest things for me is that I just hope that your child comes excited to learn at my house if they try their hardest everyday even on the stuff we talked a lot about how the most objects are really tough for us but those are the ones that we learn how to persevere through and that we become better students by persevering through these things so I really hope that they do try their hardest every day I'm really big in my classroom about working together as a family we are together 5 days a week 8 hours a day it's a lot and like a family we will get on each others nerves but also like a family we have to learn to work together we have to learn to love each other except each other for our differences and just be together we do a lot of projects and partner working our room and just supporting each other as learner's so that is really big because just work together as a family and last night I just hope that your child comes to school with a positive attitude I know sometimes I can be tough but hopefully if we can even and around if they had kind of a rocky morning and then through that positive attitude we can give respect to the adults in our life and we can also give respect to each other when we're sharing and learning from each other anyways I hope you enjoy this video and it helped you out introduction on if you're joining my classroom I can't wait to meet you and get to know you and I hope you have a great rest of your day by
