view of the classroom and things to expect started on that like I said I teach biology and physics this is my 12th year teaching and my fourth year at Douglas I have a little bit of background and specifically biological research and sustainable that's what I first went to get my undergraduate degree and Anna and that's what I worked on before I became a teacher if my 12th year teaching I teaching room for at the high school. overview of what happens in the culture of the classroom super important to me as that were good to each other we speak kindly to each other and being a good human opportunity to practice. So I have a couple of job I know that people are very very busy right now but the two priorities people are and just having her a bigger understanding of the world outside interesting leads as I teach biology and physics very much other world around them so exciting job is to help you get that job done so we're going to work hard in the class but I hope that we enjoy it every day that's my work hard in it and enjoy yourself to is essentially by your quality work in the effort you put into it kind of a different set up in this classroom where you spend a lot of time making decisions about how you're going to learn that you're going to work on and how you'll be assessed and that we also have peer and self reviews and that determines your grades as well as a review by me like I said we do a lot of project-based learning bigger projects with bigger assessments at the end keep in mind I think when I'm grading I seen you you hit the market got all the items on the rubric that in a means that you've gone beyond my expectations yesterday she's of your peers and your own it some basics of the class and dues and don'ts cell phone policy about cell phone I can give her a fantastic tool and we use them in the class as a as a classroom tool taking them out so expect that you shouldn't walk in the room with your cell phone out and we'll talk more about kind of what happens if you have water it's a laptop so we tend to be careful about eating really in the car we use computers everyday so bring them and make sure that they're charged homework it I don't typically assign home if you not completed something in class late work is not accepted so essentially what that means is that we have a negotiation during the class period before the due date I'm if something if you need a little bit more time or if your colleagues in a little bit more time than we can often extend the deadline that makes sense with you so expect that if you turn working late that's awesome too to finally turn it in even if it doesn't work any credit makeup work can be accessed through Google classroom and the work that we do in class in any makeup work that you have to do is I'm available in the Stream of Google Classroom walkthrough practice at the first week I don't typically give extra credit we can talk more about that when you're in class last but not least I just want to tell you that I'm really excited to meet you and spend some time getting to know you and your interest spend some time working hard together throughout the school year so I'm looking forward to it see you then
