A brief description of Mr. Burns what to expect as a student in Mr. Burns' class and what he expects of his students for a successful semester and school year.

hi my name is Tony Burns, Career and Technical education teacher and the science teacher and new people that come into the 600 in photography class or physical science class depending on which one will about myself I have been teaching in the Douglas School District for 34 years my job as a DTE instructor which you would need to know to become a professional photographer as a science teacher I'm trying to provide a foundation of science experiment experiences distance course of study that you can take chemistry physics and physical science course my other interests is to help Foster an interest in technology and Sciences to accomplish your career I'm a pretty big believer that solve the problems that we have in our world and the world is going to need for scientists and engineers and technologists pretty firm believer and I can't be the teacher until you decide to become the learner I am not one of these features that can make kids learn stuff if you choose to learn things. you're probably going to be right framework for school year going to break this down into two parts depending on whether you're tiger V class or one of my physical science classes that we have on your cameras beginning photography we use the Fujifilm s4200 camera you talking about focal length a considerable zoom on these cameras something called depth-of-field use when to use the flash when not to and some something of an ISO setting once you learn how to use the camera usually done with that by the end of the first nine weeks most of the second to do a particular type of photo shoot it's a lot of self-directed activity so you can go out and find objects that you can photograph in a particular way that meet your requirements. I could be spending a considerable amount of time introducing Photoshop as a method to merge photographs together or digitally enhance photographs to make the kind of image that you want and physical science we're going to be starting off the year dealing with something else process skills skills of observation skills measurement from there we'll go on to making inferences drawing conclusions forming a theory the scientific method and will use these skills develop what's going on in different states of matter energy between particles later in the year describing substances whether they be a pure element or a compound or a mixture of change which is essentially chemical reactions and then hire second semester this year to help us learn these skills and science photography the usual which I would call but I like to take field trips is a tough year because we could not but this year I'm looking forward to being able to do outdoor education that would involve science and photography primarily in photography really really tired of seeing pictures of the school building years of teaching the classes you things that you can see new ways to approach things with inside the school so I like to get outside with cameras as much as we can both in photography and in physical science photography scientific the functions of different field learning and then physical science first semester is it said is primarily chemistry second semester is primarily physics we were asked to say something about how classroom rules are established a statement being treated that way in a lot of it has to do with behavior as an adult and I fell back 3 hours four stars respect you can show respect for yourself your school and for other people irritating people how child up for tension responsibility take care of your own problems you've been in school long enough you know you're expected to be in the room when the bell rings and get things done homework or whatever kind of assignment of project and then lastly resourcefulness and solve your own problems meet your own. You don't have that 10 so when you come to class in French the kid next to use responsibility to help you out once or twice when you shown up 3-4 times a week and you don't materials in your bum and not somebody else I think to do to help us all get along really like it when it's quiet when directions are being given chat with somebody else when I'm giving directions and now that somebody else has missed the directions as well as you super important to get your makeup work when you're gone chemistry is that one enough lastly be prepared to use other materials in photography and science pitches your skills in art your skills and math your skills in English class computer studies social studies that were trying to make well-rounded educated individuals here at Douglas High School so I don't expect you to use for grammar in here any more than I would expect you misrepresent scientific fact English class yeah so we're going to use all your classrooms and photography class just kind of goes back to taking care of your knees you know what a spear if you're coming to class and you forgot something you're welcome to tell me about it most of the time you know if we're working on a photography project you check that your camera overnight and you left it at home there's a camera at home you're probably I don't know I don't know so we'll go from there and last but not least I really enjoy this quote from Isaac Asimov one of the most exciting phrases to hear in science is the one that Harold's new discoveries it's not Eureka ice which means I found it but rather that's funny so hopefully we'll have some news
