hello my name is Ariana Grande and I will be teaching English 9 10 and honors 9 in room 126 this year as far as the history I graduated from Black Hills State University in Spearfish and this will be my second year teaching at Douglas High School so let's jump for my classroom cell phones I would prefer that they are kept in a backpack or we have a cell phone holder in the front of the classroom and I don't want students to use their cell phone during class time because it does get this the first offense is just a warning so if you take it out of your backpack I'll just ask that you put it back away or put it up in the cell phone holder for the duration of class. if it does Escalade then we're looking at taking the cell phone to the office so we just won't use them during class I don't have exceptions for music I don't want us using music as a distraction if we are independently learning then we can be listening to music and also if your cell phone is out for any reason during a text you will earn a zero on the test for laptops we will use them most days so it's best have them charged and ready to use everyday if your laptop is not charged and ready to go that doesn't change the due date or expectations for your assignment so you'll still have to figure out how to get it done I do have Chargers around the room but I do students gathering in large groups to charge and socialize so I do have just a water only policy that way we're not spilling and ruining our students are welcome to have snacks and food restroom whenever they need to they thought the past next to the door and they can go to the restroom we will be following the pack pledge that worth by the school PBIS team basically the p is pride in our school score for us is pride in our classroom making sure we keep it clean and a safe environment is academically present and engaged I want students to make sure that they are participating throughout the lessons and they're engaging with material in a meaningful trustworthy just making sure that we are honest about what's going on in our lives and any assignments that we do make sure we don't plagiarize and ask they can help you choices we will be sanitizing and cleaning throughout the year trying to get make everything can be first student late policy my classroom the due date for almost every assignment is going to be midnight on Friday didn't time to accomplish their work if they are gone for an activity or something on Monday or Tuesday they have a little bit of flexibility a lot of students are also gone on Friday so they know about it ahead of time everything is turned in online if it's not they can take a picture of it so let's say they do a project I can take a picture of the project and post it completed to Google classroom and just give me the physical project on Monday that would not be counted as late each day in the Senate is lead is going to be 10% off that grade now Saturday and Sunday just count as one day because I don't want to penalize students over the weekend so anytime they turn it in on Saturday or Sunday is just turn off the grade Monday is going to be 20% off if they are gone for sports or School event is supposed to be completed prior to their absence as long as I have everything ready for them if they are able to get one next play to complete the assignment instead of they would be due Monday instead of Friday after unit I will no longer take the latest payment I don't want to be taking something from the first couple weeks of school at the very end of the semester how to reach me it's best to reach me at Ariana. Us if you forget the last it won't send to me and I'll never see the email if I don't respond within 48 hours to send email please I do try to do probably respond to you I asked that students especially use proper email tone and etiquette and don't hesitate to ask me about grades or any concerns that you might have throughout the year if you have any other concerns feel free to let me know but those are the basic guidelines for this classroom I am asking if I wise that students out there charge laptop pencil college-ruled paper Bird by any kind of loose leaf paper and then they just make sure they keep track of their books they're out the year and turning things in online so if you have any questions just reach out to me at Ariana.
