Douglas School District Launches Winter Coat Drive to Support Local Students

Although the sun is shining today, we know colder weather is just around the corner. As winter approaches, the Douglas School District is committed to making sure every child in our community has the warmth they need to thrive.

To meet this need, the district is hosting its 2nd annual Winter Coat Drive, encouraging families, staff, and community members to donate new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, and boots. These donations will directly benefit Douglas students, helping them stay comfortable, safe, and ready to learn throughout the winter months.

“We want every student to feel cared for and supported every day, not just in the classroom, but in their daily lives,” said Karissa Perez, Douglas School District Family Services Worker. “Something as simple as a warm coat can make a world of difference for a child.”

Donations are being accepted at each of our schools now through October 11. Look for a donation box near the front office. The district encourages the entire community to take part in this effort to help children stay warm this winter.
