New Student Enrollment / Registration

Welcome to Douglas! We look forward to having you join the Douglas Family!
NEW STUDENTS:
Students who reside in the Douglas School District boundaries must complete the following documents.

✔ Proof of Residency (current lease agreement, mortgage statement, or a current month utility bill)
✔ Birth Certificate
✔ Immunization Records
✔ Parent/Guardian ID
✔ Current custody documentation (if applicable)

How do I know if I live in the Douglas School District*?

  • Navigate to the South Dakota Department of Education School Districts Web App
  • Choose District Lookup
  • In the "District Lookup" drop-down menu, select your school city as Box Elder, then click Apply
    The map will refresh to show the Douglas District Area. Click anywhere on the zoomed-in area to show the shaded boundary lines of the Douglas School District.
  • Use the - (minus) and + (plus) icons on the map to zoom out to locate the area/street where you live*.
  • We highly recommend calling our Central Office at 605.923.0000 to verify your address is included in the Douglas School District.
 
*Here's why it is best to call to verify your address:
  • Douglas School District has some addresses in Pennington County and Meade County.
  • Douglas School District has some addresses in Box Elder - but not all
  • Douglas School District has some addresses in Rapid City - sometimes one side of the street, but not the other.

OPEN ENROLLMENT:
Students who do not reside in the Douglas School District boundaries but wish to attend a Douglas School.

✔ Complete the Open Enrollment Application Form

✔ Submit the Application Form to Douglas Central Office no later than August 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM

✔ The School Board reviews applications annually at the first meeting in August.
