Online Learning

Douglas School District is excited to provide flexible, personalized online learning opportunities (beginning in the 2026/27 school year) for students in grades 6-12. This allows students to stay on track for graduation, recover credits, explore new courses, and access learning in a format that supports individual needs.

Who Can Enroll in Online Learning?
Online learning may be an option for Douglas students in grades 6-12* who:
  • Need credit recovery to stay on track for graduation
  • Are seeking to accelerate coursework
  • Are seeking a virtual learning option
  • Need an alternative learning environment
  • Have unique circumstances that require temporary remote access
*Placement in the online program is determined in collaboration with counselors, administrators, students, and families.

How It Works:
  1. The online application/agreement is completed, signed by the parent and student, and returned to Central Office.
  2. Students are enrolled by a counselor or administrator.
  3. Coursework is completed online through the Edgenuity platform.
  4. Certified staff monitor progress and provide support.
  5. Students must meet pacing expectations or will have to return to in-person classes
  6. Students are expected to log in daily (on scheduled school days) and maintain steady progress toward course completion.
Expectations for Success:
Students participating in online learning must:
  • Follow district technology and academic integrity policies
  • Maintain regular communication with assigned staff
  • Meet class participation requirements and pacing guidelines.
  • Complete all lessons, assignments, and assessments independently
  • Parental involvement and monitoring are encouraged to support student progress.

Enrollment Process:
  1. Fill out the enrollment/agreement form and submit it to Central Office.
  2. A meeting with the Executive Director of Secondary Education will be scheduled.
  3. Determine course eligibility and appropriateness.
    1. Students are required to take a minimum of 5 courses.
    2. The counselor will enroll the student in courses.
  4. Begin coursework upon approval.
