BADGER CLARK FAQ'S
BADGER CLARK FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
If I transport my child to and from school, where do I drop off/pick up my child?
Badger Clark students should be dropped off in the west parking lot of Badger Clark off Briggs Rd. Please have your child ready to exit the vehicle when you reach the drop off point in order to keep traffic flowing. In the name of student safety, please do not drop off students from any point other than shown on the map unless you plan to park and walk them to the entrance. PARENTS/GUARDIANS OR ANY OTHER VISITOR WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE HALLWAYS AT ANY TIME WITHOUT A VISITOR PASS FROM THE OFFICE unless otherwise stated during special events.
Badger Clark students will need to be picked up from the front of the building. Please check with your child’s teacher to find out if they have a preferred meeting point. K-1 students should be picked up no later than 2:55 pm and 2-3 students should be picked up by 3:00 pm. Any changes to after school instructions must be communicated by the parent/guardian in the form of a note to the teacher or a phone call to the office. Please call by 2:00 pm to allow time for adjustments to be made. If you need to pick up your child early from school, you must first go to the office to sign them out. Please have your Photo ID ready.
What time can my child be dropped off at school?
Are they eating breakfast at school?
No – Students that will not have breakfast at school may be dropped off after 7:45 am.
Supervision is not provided and they cannot enter the building prior to that time.
Yes – Students going to the cafeteria for breakfast may enter the building as early as 7:30 am. Those students
must be dropped off at the cafeteria entrance on Don Williams Drive as that is the only door
unlocked. After 7:40 am, students can be dropped off per instructions above.
What does my child do before the bell rings at 8:00 am?
Students may go to breakfast if they need to eat. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:00 am. If they do not need to eat breakfast at school or if they finish breakfast before the bell rings, students go to the playground for a supervised recess until the bell rings. Please make sure they have appropriate attire for all types of weather as they will be expected to be outside. If your child should be kept indoors for medical reasons, please visit the office and provide a doctor’s note. Please note: For the sake of safety and fairness, if it is your personal preference that your child does not go out for recess before school, they should not be dropped off before 8:00 am.
What do I do if my child will be late or absent?
Please call the Badger Clark office at 923-0080 to report the absence or tardy. Please try to call by 8:30 am if at all possible. If your child is arriving at school after 8:05 am, they must be signed in at the office before proceeding to class, so please escort them into the building. The front doors are only open from 7:40 to 8:05 so you will need to be buzzed in. If your child will be absent more than 5 days at one time for anything other than medical reasons, please contact the principal to discuss your situation and review our attendance policies. Doctor notes are not required for every absence due to illness but are highly recommended for absences lasting more than 2 days. Notes should also be provided for medical appointments that require your child to be late, leave early or miss school on a regular basis.
How do I put money on my child’s lunch account?
This can be done in several ways. Keep in mind that if you have multiple children they each have their own account. You can submit lunch money in one lump sum for your family, but please indicate how much money is to be credited to each child.
If you have other questions regarding policy or procedure please check the Student Handbook section of this website.
KINDERGARTEN SMALL GROUP DAYS
SMALL GROUP DAYS
KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS ONLY
You and your child are about to experience one of the most exciting and unforgettable moments of his/her educational careers: THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Douglas School District will start school on Monday, August 19, 2019. We want to make that first experience as meaningful, pleasant and productive as possible. In order to provide both students and teachers an opportunity to become familiar with each other and with school procedures under a relaxed atmosphere, the first three days of school will be small group days for kindergarten students only.
What does this mean? It means that for the first week of school only you will send your child to school on their assigned small group day (noted on the welcome letter) and again on Thursday, August 22nd and Friday, August 23rd. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE 22ND AND 23RD ARE EARLY DISMISSAL DAYS. K-1 STUDENTS WILL BE RELEASED AT 12:50 PM; 2-3 STUDENTS WILL BE RELEASED AT 1:00 PM.
PLEASE NOTE: In fairness to families and teachers alike, if you send your child to school on a small group day other than the day he/she has been assigned you will be contacted and asked to pick up your child for the day. Thank you for your understanding!
