We are incredibly excited to announce that our very own Executive Director of Elementary Curriculum Ann Pettit was selected as South Dakota's 2023 Outstanding Curriculum Leader! Under Ann’s leadership, Douglas’ reading scores have improved significantly, and her strong leadership qualities have had, and continue to have a marked impact at the district and school levels.
Her nomination reads in part “As Executive Director of Academics for the Douglas School District, Ann is dedicated to ensuring the instructional environment is focused on continuous improvement. She exhibits a deep understanding of the positive impacts that high-quality early education has on child outcomes. She works hard to coach not only instructional leaders but also building and district-level staff on the importance of marrying academic rigor and developmentally appropriate practice. One only has to spend a short amount of time with Ann, discussing her philosophy, to see her deep-seated belief in the importance of relationships between teachers and their students.”
