Douglas School District Announces Leadership Transition for the 2026-2027 School Year

We are excited to announce the appointment of Sean Gholson as the new Principal of Douglas Middle School, effective July 1, 2026. Gholson currently serves as Assistant Principal at Douglas High School and will transition into this new leadership role at the conclusion of the current school year.

During his time at Douglas High School, Gholson has been instrumental in supporting student success, strengthening school culture, and building positive relationships with students, staff, and families. He brings a strong commitment to academic excellence, student well-being, and collaborative leadership. Gholson began his career at Douglas High School in 1998 as a social studies teacher, teaching American Government, World Geography, and U.S. History, while also serving as the head wrestling coach for 23 years. In 2021, he transitioned into school leadership as the High School Assistant Principal, where he has proudly served for the past five years. "

For more than 25 years, Mr. Gholson has been a steady and trusted presence in our district. We are excited to see him take on this new leadership role," said Superintendent Kevin Case. "His passion for education and his familiarity with our district initiatives will serve Douglas Middle School well. We look forward to the energy and experience he will bring to the position."

"Douglas is my home," said Gholson, "and I am energized and honored to step into this leadership position at Douglas Middle School. My focus will be on fostering a supportive learning environment for students during the important formative years of middle school, with an emphasis on clear expectations for both students and staff. I am committed to guiding a thoughtful transition that preserves the strong, positive aspects of the school’s culture while also identifying opportunities for growth and long-term success."

The district will begin the process of filling the Assistant Principal position at Douglas High School.
